Community Support
The Danny Cornish Charity Golf Tournament was a huge success, raising over $18,000 for the Children’s Cancer Connection! A big, loud thank you to all participants, sponsors, and everyone who helped to make this event so successful and, especially, fun!

Key Mortgage Group makes it a priority to stay actively involved in the community. They put on one of their own events and stayed involved as sponsors for multiple local charity events as well.
One Key Mortgage Group charity event is called the Danny Joe Memorial Golf Tournament. The Danny Joe Memorial Golf Tournament was started over 22 years ago in memory of Danny Joe Cornish. Danny Joe, the son of Kelly and Billie Cornish, passed away at the age of 6 after a long hard fight with cancer. Danny Joe was a very compassionate boy who inspired the world around him to understand the value of love and the importance of spending time with family. One of Danny’s favorite things to do was attend a summer camp offered by “The Heart Connection.” The Cornish family was one of the founding families.
This organization was renamed recently to the “Children’s Cancer Connection”, an Iowa based non-profit organization that offers various kinds of support for those with a child family member battling cancer. CCC sponsors two weeks of camps each summer. There’s one week for kids with cancer and one week for the siblings of those patients. Danny’s family started the tournament to raise money for the camp he loved so much. Danny Joe loved camp and was looking forward to going back. Both camps were a big part of the Cornish’s lives. Danny’s brothers and sister all went to Sibling Camp.
John went until he was about 14, and Matt and Kelli went until they aged out and then went back as volunteers. All money raised from the golf tournament goes directly to Camp Heart Connection. They still use the original logo that Danny drew for the founder Deli Lampe.
Until recently, the tournament has taken place in Oskaloosa, Iowa. 22 successful years and hundreds of thousands of dollars donated. This year the Tournament will be relocating to Davenport, Iowa. It has grown steadily averaging between $8,000 and $10,000 raised each year. You can expect to see a variety of games that help contribute to its success and make for a fun filled day. The tournament provides a small breakfast, plenty of snacks along the way, lunch, and a prize ceremony after play is completed. We have 2 main goals with this event: raise money for a great Camp that Danny loved and have a blast each year remembering Danny and the impact he had on so many lives in his 6 short years.
